19. tammikuuta Myrskyluodon Maija
"Oh my. It's only January and I think I've already seen the #bestmovieoftheyear. #myrskyluodonmaija tells a wonderful story of a woman born in #Åland in the 1800s.
Maija believed in creatures of nature and herself. Even if the story has some very sad moments it has a positive tone of view and it makes me smile to think about it.
I hope the international audience finds this movie. Well done @tiinalymi, it's a masterpiece! Or a motherpiece? 🤔 "
21. tammikuuta The Lunchbox
"I went to #viddla to look for drama & romance. Chose #thelunchboxmovie from 2013 without any background information. What a charming movie it is!
Don't know how to describe it but it's idea with lunchbox letters is just lovely just like the way the information about the main characters was given to us, little by little."
Elokuvassa on hauska idea.
I managed to avoid all reviews (=spoilers) and could figure all out by myself, it was a bit complicated. 🤯
Don't want to spoil for you either but the scenes are beautiful and the movies goes on fluently. It surprised me many times too. And those funny & lovely grannies. ♥️
One critic told that the photo of an ancestor was like #JeanSibelius painted by #akseligallenkallela. Actually I thought it looked familiar but as I didn't expect to see a Finn in the movie I didn't think about it further. Was it teally him? What a great #easteregg! 🥰 "
Elokuvan hahmot ovat kyllä varsin erikoisen näköisiä ja japanilaisilla tarinoilla on ihan oma kieroutunut logiikkansa. Tykkään.
"Movie of the day #räkäjaroiskis is based on #juiceleskinen's children books. Havent read them but now I might to do that.
I asked Dalle to draw a picture of a brief I created with help of @episodi_lehti review.
They had given 4/5 stars and I agree with that, the movie was a nice experience for adults too, even though it was more scary than I expected."
25. helmikuutta Heinähattu, Vilttitossu ja kana
"The movie of the day was #heinähattuvilttitossujakana. Its theme was sibling jealousy and love, and it moved me a lot because it was based on the last screenplay written together by the Nopola sisters. I wonder what it was like to write children's books together with one's own sister. 🥰 😭
In the movie, the costume and set design made the biggest impression on me; through the eyes of a dollhouse enthusiast, it was fun to spot various details like tea bag earrings, for example. Are such things sold anywhere?"
"Seeing #priscillamovie was kind of uncomfortable experience as you knew what is going to happen and that it is a true story. I think my POV was not the teenager in love but her parents. So I did not enjoy all the things I saw but I'm happy that @sofiacoppola captured the years @priscillapresley spent with #elvispresley, the story is not only unique but universal.
The Elvis movie made me so sad, what a waste of talent, who died too soon. Priscilla is still alive but has been famous ever since she met Elvis. Living in the spotlights is not easy but luckily she found her life before Elvis left the building."
"Disney, home of animation movies, turned 100 last year. To celebrate that they made a #wishmovie, #toiveelokuva. It's not one of their best movies but it has its' moments.
After the movie I kept reading about its' hidden Easter eggs as it's so much fun, there's over 100 of them so spotting all (or even most) of them is not possible at the first time.
I sat in the movie theater till the very end and this time it was well worth waiting, one of the most touching scenes of the movie was there.
I sat in the movie theater till the very end and this time it was well worth waiting, one of the most touching scenes of the movie was there.
The wide range of characters was delightful. It's great that many of the Disney heroes are female now. And turning Showwhite's evil step-mother to a handsome king was clever move indeed. 😁 "
8. maaliskuuta Luottomies elokuva All in
"Oh! Here's a movie for my style, I don't remember when was the last time I laughed this much in the movies. 🤣
#luottomies is originally a tv-series, one of our all time favorites. The critics have only given it a few stars but at least the audience has found it.
Go and see it yourself!"
Elokuvan tunnusmusiikki on muuten hyvä myös.
16. maaliskuuta Ohjus
"The movie of the day was #ohjuselokuva / #themissile . Some critics said that it combined too many genres but I thought it was perfect.
I wasn't laughing nor crying but still I enjoyed it a lot: the way they talked, lived and dressed (it was 1984), the music they listened and the way things started to roll from the very beginning.
It's a funny and lovely story indeed and I can't but recommend it: family is the best and worst. It's full of great actors and they did wonderful work."
Paluu 80-luvulle oli kyllä todella onnistuneesti tehty, ihailen!
"Today's film was #huijaritelokuva - kinda "catch me if you can" type of movie. It's pretty uncommon theme for a #finnishfilm and maybe that's why I got very American vibes from it.
It was nice to spot e.g. #mattirönkä from it and keep getting surprised by the next moves."
"Kangasniemi's Easter movie is based on the 1990s TV series "Kyllä isä osaa". The film drew a good crowd and laughter could be heard from the audience. In my opinion, the film captured the spirit of the original series well, although it also included more of the humor typical for another producer.
Mostly harmless and entertaining, the film also allowed for admiring my favorite city, Tampere."
"#Prinsessapikkiriikki was a delightful experience for adults too. She's quite energetic and feisty, but also sweet and kind.
Fun dialogue, charming sets, fairy tales, and a dash of everyday life. The casting was brilliant too. ♥️ "
Suosittelin myös Pikkiriikki-kuunnelmia Yle Areenasta, ovatkohan ne vielä siellä?
"The documentary about Alma was a great package. Alma's twin, Ano, had filmed a lot of material from the early years of her career, and Pamela Tola jumped in after the pandemic disrupted Alma's rising career for several years. The documentary thus captures not only the story of Alma and her family but also a snapshot of the era of COVID-19.
Alma's life has not been easy, as she comes from a poor background and has had to take care of her parents, who are both wheelchair-bound, since she was a child. However, the family has its own sense of humor, and despite all the difficulties, there is a positive vibe in the movie.
I wish Alma all the best in her career, the film made me a fan as her heart is gold. 💛 "
"We have a portal in #kangasniemi. From this door I entered South Korea and New York - in the form of #pastlivesmovie that is.
It's a beautiful movie and the first one #celinesong wrote and directed. Well done!
From the reviews I learnt she used parts of her own life, she got the idea for the movie from a similar discussion that is shown in the beginning of the movie.
And now I hope she makes the second part for it!"
"The last adult movie in #Kangasniemi this spring was #madeleinenpariisi, #unebellecourse.
The movie is charming & touching and it felt very realistic. Go see it yourself!"
Tästä elokuvasta jäi kovin lämpimät muistot, suosittelen vilpittömästi. Tarina avautui vähitellen samalla, kun Madeleine matkusti Pariisissa. Hurmaava pieni suuri tarina rohkeasta naisesta.
"I watched the #garfieldmovie #karvinenelokuva yesterday. It contained so much action that I started to feel sleepy which happens to me quite seldom, I can recall only few movies.
But then again, I assume I don't belong to target group (even if I've read 10+ Garfield albums).
The best part of the movie were:
🍿the hints to other movies
🍿the end texts (their visuality & music)
🍿the Finnish voices including Käärijä
🍿the dogs that chased Garfield & co "
"Some things never change. You can count on @aardmananimations' quality & humour.
#farmageddon movie tells about an alien who comes to the farm where #shaunthesheep lives.
A good movie makes me either 😀 or 😢 and the best ones 😂 or 😭. This was a 😀.
I loved spotting the hints to scifi things like Dr Who, ET, X files... I'm not even a scifi fan so I guess they will spot even more Easter eggs from the movie.
I watched the movie from #viddla. One of the songs is performed by #kylieminogue, you can check the music video if you want to spot some eggs yourself. 🤓"
"On Saturdays I watch movies and read their reviews after seeing them. I can't understand why people are ruining their experience by reading them in advance.
These two movies I watched from #yleteemafem but they are on @yleareena too. I didn't know much about them but saw some clips from #sodankylänelokuvajuhlat where #alicerohrwacher had visited as well as comments from Finnish movie professionals so they gave me hints about what to expect.
Nowadays I love movies because they are my escapes from digital world and my own life. For many many years I didn't have nearly any time for movies so the break has made me respect them more.
There were no reviews in Finnish about #corpoceleste so I read some in English. I wanted to see what Italians had said about the movie and was happy for the Italian Wikipedia article which is better than the English one. But the French was even better including some quotes from Alice herself giving explanation to the last scene.
The film was fascinating and captivating, I didn't know where it was going. The small family, a mum with her two daughters was relatable and touching.
#summerland #kesämaa by @jessicaswale managed to surprise me too, many times. The movie got an average of 3/5 stars in the Finnish critics. I would have given 4 as it was also touching, educating me about old folk stories and showing me beautiful scenes.
The relationships between adults and kids were entertaining to follow - even if there were promblems in them. That's called life.
I also read the English Wikipedia article and was shocked by it. It doesnt have a spoiler warning but tells the whole manuscript in details. How rude. 😭 "
8. syyskuuta Mielensäpahoittajan rakkaustarina
"The first movie of the fall season was #mielensäpahoittajanrakkaustarina 💕. Not the first #mielensäpahoittaja movie for me nor the last I guess.
It was a charming story of an old grumpie who found new joy to his life. So did I, I'm happy that the movies are back from the summer break."
"What a wheel of emotions! We finally got to see #insideout2. The idea is pretty clever and educative, maybe kids/people recognize their feelings better after seeing this film?
If you ask me there were too much hockey in it but it was still nice to see *girls* playing it."
"I saw #itendswithus #sepäättyymeihin movie with the theme of kids, families and violence.
So much to think about now.🤯"
29. syyskuuta Perhoset
"😂 - this is the emoji for #perhosetelokuva (#perhoset). It made me laugh many times and in the end I was also crying. It's just awesome, go and see it yourself. 😍
And oh boy @sjkkaupunki, this is so good for you and also for @tangomarkkinat. I bet there will be loads of new people who want to experience #tangomarkkinat after seeing this!
Seeing this kind of father-daughter film was also just super, not a very common setup. 🤩 "
12. lokakuuta Den Sista Resan - Viimeinen matka
"Just watched #densistaresan #densistaresanviimeinenmatka #viimeinenmatka. It touched me for very personal reasons and as I avoid reading the reviews (spoilers) before the movie I didn't know that two of the main characters are famous in Sweden.
Now it's easier to understand why Filip chose Fredrik and not his sister which would have been more natural.
What they did on their road trip made me laugh and seeing France in the fall was nice too. And of course I cried for the touching scene in the beach. "
18. lokakuuta Niko ja Myrskyporojen arvoitus
"I was not at all in the mood for a #kidsmovie but I went there for kids' sake. And guess what? #nikojamyrskyporojenarvoitus had the magic to charm me.
It's a movie about friends and families in snowy northern sceneries. This is going to be a Christmas movie hit for years to come. And it has been sold to over 100 countries already. Oh wow! Proud to be a Finn!"
26. lokakuuta Kurkien äiti
"Saw #kurkienäiti #motherofsnowcranes tonight. As usually I didn't read the reviews but of course I had some exceptations based on it's name and this time I was fooled.
Even if the name and the main character is Finnish the language of the document is mostly English.
I thought it was because she had forgotten Finnish as she left our country at the age of 19 but I found a small tv interview from 8 years ago that was done in Finnish.
Ellen had so charming way to talk there it's a pitty we couldnt hear more of it this time.
The name also made me think there would be more cranes in it. The name Ellen had proposed herself would have worked better for me: Pöljän pysäkiltä maailman tuuliin (from Pöljä village to the big wide world). But as local people have given her this name it's a natural choice for the film too.
So my expectations were not met but I still enjoyed the film that told a story of very positive and vibrant woman who has suffered more than average people coming from #pöljänkylä I assume."
1. marraskuuta Pepe
" This weekend's movie is #pepeelokuva, a documentary about @willbergpepe, #pepewillberg. I’ve known his hits since I was a kid, but I’ve never seen him live or listened to his albums. Now, I’m a fan and would love to hear more of his music. 🥰
I learnt that he is shy and doesn’t like to promote himself. (Making a movie wasn’t my idea; he mentioned it at the movie promo event but felt happy that his story is now captured) Instead, he has always wanted his music to speak for itself. And it truly does.
The movie gives plenty of space for the music and allows him to keep his private life mostly private. However, we get to know his wife enough to understand that they are a #powercouple, a partnership where two people work for one career.
Movies about artists tend to be quite sad, but this film has a happy ending. Go see it for yourself! It's the first movie of @severikoivusalo but as it's so awesome I hope I can see more of his works too. 🤩
"
16. marraskuuta Ismo - Maailman hauskin ulkopuolinen
"Do you know @ismocomedy, #thefunniestpersonintheworld? Yes, he got that title some years ago and moved from Finland to LA with @angel_bravus and their Kitty dog to start a career there.
I've been following their career pretty carefully and even read two books they've written. So this document was not that educative than the previous document (Pepe) I watched.
When a document tells about a standup comedian it felt quite natural that he was doing voice over from the very beginning till the end - and made fun out of some very unexpected things. 😁
I did something I don't normally do: I've read many interviews made about the movie during the past weeks. Now they were kinda spoiling the most touching parts of the movie. 😬
So I don't tell about them but hope you go see the movie yourself. We are so proud of him, he's doing amazing. I'm hoping the dream he was talking comes true soon. 🌟 "
7. joulukuuta Hevimpi reissu
"Something unexpected: went to see #hevimpireissu tonight. I'm so out of #heavymetalgenre that I didn't know that
- this is a sequel of #hevireissu in 2018 which turned out to be some sort of #cultmovie that has been aired in 50 countries. Oh wow!
- I was also surprised to hear @babymetal_official is a real band from Japan doing a cameo. Oh wow! It was too cute!
"#kissan10elämää #10lives is a European animation with a unique idea. It has not got very many stars and I could only find a few reviews in Finnish. I liked it and found the characters funny, especially the two bad brothers. 😁 And I even cried in the end."
Kurkkaa myös vuoden 2025 elokuvajuttuni. Silloin kirjoitin juttuni jo suomeksi. :)
